The Rosie Hue of the Dying Day

by Lauren Hoekstra

Born in South Africa, raised in Italy,  Lauren completed her education at UCLA’s prestigious production graduate program, where, before she left, she had joined the DGA, having directed the second unit on Plush, a Catherine Hardwicke (Thirteen, Twilight) feature.

She followed this up with producing and directing a James Franco project, City Bus, starring Ahna O’Reilly (The Help), which won best director and best narrative short at the 2017 IFS and the Los Angeles International Underground Film Festivals.

Don’t Come Back from the Moon (with Jeff Wahlberg, Rashid Jones, James Franco), a feature Lauren went on to produce, won Best Director at the 2017 LA Film Festival.

Other highlights include the selection of her short, Shoot for the Moon, at the 2018 TIFF Kids’ Festival.

Currently, she’s working on an experimental interactive video for celebrity director/photographer, Tyler Shield, whilst developing projects that combine her love for romance and action.
